Artist Statement

Rusty Lake is a virtual place I return to again and again. This video is made entirely with AI—ThinkDiffusion for the images, Runway for the animation, and ChatGPT to help shape the story. The gallery below shows the stills I generated first, then re-animated through another round of AI, where the scenes shift, blur, and sometimes surprise me. The film follows a man drifting down a river as his senses are stripped away one by one. In an age of AI, our senses feel more precious than ever: what we perceive, and what’s “real,” is harder to hold onto. Ultimately, this portfolio is my way of keeping track of what might otherwise slip away—feelings, senses, memories, people, and the kinds of learning that only happen along the way.
